Hahaha ok so I was going completely nuts with the shading on this, sort of like this -- [link] . Until on a complete accident, I got halfway through coloring Raito and realized....
He looked pretty hot that way.
~akemichan suggested I entertain the happy accident and keep going with it. So I went back and simplified L and I really like how it turned out way better. Sometimes less is more!
I love it when mistakes turn into wonderful things you would've never thought to do on your own. That's one of the reasons I've gone back to forcing myself to do certain things in a natural media, because the lack of CTRL-Z forces you to try and improvise with mistakes, and you get entirely different, and sometimes better, results.
Undo however, is still forever my friend.
I apologize for the massive amounts of fanart lately. I promise I haven't turned into a fanart artist (not that that's bad), but the neurosis from going to my first Con is getting the best of me. Plus, some of the original stuff I've been working on has been on the somewhat... secret side. >.>
Oh maaan this is cool, the colors and composition look fantastic. Reminds me of the face of a card, but I have a feeling that may have been the idea. Pretty much the most interesting DeathNote fanart I've ever seen, YAY FOR YOU.
UUh... secreeettt... Really nice design here, and finally one depiction of Light-kun in which he looks lika a MAN, not an eternal psycho school boy... cheers for you!
Your first con? how cool! You'll get to feel like a celebrity!! Better make a cool journal out of it!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
