So I'm finally mustering up the guts to actually try and get an artist table at a con....but I'm having a problem. Since the closest con to me is A-kon, and it's actually relatively large, I figure I'd go with that. In the past, I've watched and considered tables, and they usually go on sale at the first of the year... but this year I can't find any info!! Does anyone know anything about when tables will go on sale for A-kon? Or have any special tips or secrets to getting a table? Do I have to know people?? I'm getting really nervous that I won't be able to get one because time till the con is rapidly ticking away... :C
I really hope to see you there. I know a person or two that probably have tables there, and I can maybe find out some more info from them. Most if it is probably what you've already heard though .
A-kon info for this year's artist alley is kinda sparce because it's switching hands. There is a link up on the site but it won't be active until the switch is complete There willbe some signifigant revamps tothe AA system as well as the WebComics situation... Yes, get on the waiting list ASAP! revious years AA members are invited back just after the con, but new registries aren't taken (officially) until September, and usually fill up within a week. The Art Show has plenty of space left in it and can usually get you a lot of quick cash. It doesn't require you to man a table, just put in art for a silent auction. If it gets three or more bids it goes to live auction. The great thing bout this is that you can get into Art Show this year and reg for the table next year. It's gives you a bigger presence. When you do get an AA table you can reference the Art Show auction at the able, and the table sale at the auction.
Also...
Have you thought about doing anything affiliated with Barking Lizards at the con? I am pretty sure that they would give you comp tables and panel space or could accomidate you in other ways if it was company affiliated.
But just lemme know, kay? I can set up a meeting between you and the exhibits director if you want.
I think I got a table last thursday in the second pull. I filled out an app and was able to pay, so I believe that gets me in?? I would love to do some stuff for the Art Show as well, and have been kind of poking around on how to submit art for that. I found the Phoenix Art Show site, but haven't been able to dig deeper. Any help would be super kickass. :>
I'd have to ask about the BLT table, maybe next year! But that would definitely be cool. :0
np, you know u can always call if u need quick info. I got promoted to the position to PA for the one of A-Kon's 3 directors, so I can at least help there

Don't know if you got your question answered or not, but you should email hatsur and hop on the waiting list. I have a table at Akon (paid and confirmed) . . and I might be willing to split it if you can't get a table. PM me if you need any details. ^_^
Hm... not sure if anyone has suggested this yet (i'm lazy and won't read all of the comments), but if for some reason you don't get a table, you could at least get information on getting a table while you're at the convention. Your artwork is incredible, so i'm sure they'd be happy to have you...
I just checked the official site for the convention: [link]
Its odd... I don't see anything for an Artist's Alley this year. "Phoenix Art Show" seems to be taking its place. And as has already been noted, their stupid site for the Artist's Alley isn't helpful in the least... It says you need to register for A-kon membership apart from registering for the Alley, but it doesn't give a link to any of the necessary forms.
I did, however, find one useful bit of information. It may be outdated, but here's the email address of the person who manages akonartistalley.com. Its akonartistinfo@yahoo.com.
I found that address here: [link] Which also has a phone number and e-mail address for the author of the letter, but that's probably outdated too...
Good luck to you. Hopefully i can make it by the convention and see your work if you get in...

Anime Fest and A-kon are the only two conventions I ever go to cause I lack major transportation abilities and- money..
Are there any other conventions you go to that are around the same area?
